Good educational games for kids Video
My homeschooling co-op recently a discussion of educational games for children. A summary of my contributions to this discussion.
World of Goo
This game helps children with physics. It teaches to F = ma, but also helps children develop their intuitive knowledge. This is a puzzle game, and the goal is to build large structures using balls of goo. You can purchase and download the game WorldOfGoo.com
Spore
Children take a body, if only microscopic, and the leader of a complex evolutionary process of animal forms and civilizations of going into space. My children have learned a little about the genetic trade-off between fights and friendships, and more. My kids love this game again, like World of Goo is knowledge learning, not specific equations, but develop an understanding unconscious. Spore spore.com can purchase and download.
Ikariam
Ikariam is a free, Web-based game. I think this game is especially true when studying topics such as ancient Greek culture city-state, or a small group of people and growing. You start with 40 people and a small forest. Players build a city hall for people living in areas of scientific research so they can do new things, to determine the number of its inhabitants have to work or in other parts of the wood, and building walls and other buildings in the city. Players must balance the economy and the happiness of his people while protecting the city against other players who might attack them. Players can start or join alliances and learn to plan strategic battles. My husband and I played this game for a while. (My husband still does.) My 7 year old son plays this game. I think it helps to deal with compensation in Ikariam to understand how the commitments in all aspects of life. To play this game ikariam.org.
